TINDALL ROARS HOME 50/1 SABBATINI

By Jonathan Turner

Rory Sabbatini was a stunning 50/1 winner for the Bettingzone as he claimed victory in the Nissan Open in Los Angeles.

Our golf expert Dave Tindall highlighted his chances beforehand when he said: "A look at past Nissan form shows Sabbatini with a runners-up finish in 2002 along with top 15s in 2000 and 2004.

"And that suggests it's all systems go for another big week.

"The worry, of course, is that six weeks on the spin could easily lead to burnout.

"But his second places this year have both come via flying finishes so he hasn't put himself under as much pressure as we might think.

"And it's also reassuring to see that his last win on the US Tour - the FBR Capital Open in 2003 - came five weeks into another busy period.

"Despite having a reputation as a hot-head - something he has tried to work on this year - it seems that Sabbatini can keep his focus for long stretches.

"With an eye-catching combination of current and course form, the 50s seems very fair."

That analysis proved spot-on as the South African went to the top of the US Tour money list with a one stroke victory from defending champion Adam Scott.

But not content with tipping the 50/1 winner, Tindall also flagged up the each-way chances of 200/1 chance John Rollins who duly squeezed into a share of fifth place to bolster the profits even further.

That's tipping of the highest quality and our free golf betting previews are available on the Bettingzone every Monday and Tuesday.

  • Sabbatini is freely available at 50/1 to still be in top spot on the US Money List at the end of the year.

World number one Tiger Woods, who withdrew from the Nissan Open at the halfway stage because of 'flu, is the 2/7 favourite with bet365 and totesport.

It's then 9/2 Vijay Singh (Skybet), 22/1 Phil Mickelson (bet365) and 40/1 bar.
