Bettingzone.co.uk's 7/1 headline tips Brazil justified faith as they took World Cup glory in Yokohama.

"7/1 Brazil Look World Class" was our headline prior to the tournament last month and the Samba stars, as predicted, lifted their fifth World Cup crown after beating Germany 2-0 in the final.

Brazil had been written off by many after struggling through qualifying but tipster Dave Tindall believed they would silence their critics.

Tindall had also identified Ronaldo as the key man for Brazil and so it proved.

Tindall had written: "Brazil's World Cup history is like no other and there is plenty of evidence to suggest that the samba stars can silence the critics by claiming their fifth title.

"Number one reason is the return to the side of Ronaldo.

"The last World Cup memory we have of Brazil's number nine is him wondering around the Stade de France in a semi-daze after suffering a convulsive fit hours before kick-off in the final against France - a game the shellshocked Brazilians lost 3-0.

"But now he is back! And if somehow guided by fate it's the World Cup where Ronaldo will announce his return to the top.

"With an easy run to the last eight, Brazil's odds of 7/1 are sure to have tumbled significantly and although the stakes are then stepped up dramatically I still believe they can progress.

"France, Argentina or even England are likely to block their passage then but once the last eight is reached it may come down to individual brilliance.

"In Ronaldo and Rivaldo, Brazil have that quality in abundance.

"Brazil were the trendiest team on the planet four years ago with their Nike airport advert never off the screens.

"But Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos and Cafu are still in their ranks and in Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Lucio and PSG attacker Ronaldinho they have two more potential superstars. So why are many writing them off?"

And why indeed? Brazil looked the best team in the tournament from the start and although it got harder for them in the latter stages, the goals of Ronaldo and Rivaldo proved decisive.
