Picture Marc Lievremont's France can see off Italy.

FRENCH FANCIED FOR ITALIAN JOB

By David Gee

Sky Bet's Odds Compare All Prices

Sunday March 14

France v Italy (1430 GMT)

Despite a fortuitous victory against Wales at the Millennium Stadium a fortnight ago, France are still unbeaten in this year's Six Nations and with two winnable home games left, the Grand Slam is theirs for the taking. Marc Lievremont's men have done the hard work in beating Ireland, Wales and Scotland in their first three games and only have themselves to blame if they don't lift the trophy now but they will need to keep their eye on the ball if they are to avoid an embarrassing slip-up against either Italy on Sunday or England next weekend. Italy got off the mark a fortnight ago with a battling performance against Scotland in Rome and will now fancy their chances of avoiding the wooden spoon in this year's tournament. France have made two changes to the line-up that beat Wales with Mathieu Bastareaud finding himself on the bench with his place taken by David Marty. The other alteration sees Castres winger Marc Andreu replace Clermont's Julien Malzieu on the right while a third change on the bench sees Biarritz half-back Dimitri Yachvili replace the injured Frederic Michalak. Italy have yet to name their side but coach Nick Mallett knows his side will have to produce something special to beat a French side that look to have the upper hand in most areas of the park. Having come so close to a Grand Slam this year, France want shooting if they slip up against either Italy or England over the next week or so. I can't really envisage France losing this weekend but they may struggle to cover the handicap of around 25 if they don't put 100 per cent into the game. However, it's not a game I've got a huge opinion about either way and it's best to keep your powder dry on this one.

Verdict: France by 20
