Each day Malcolm Boyle, the author of 'How To Win at the Tote Placepot' and a former odds compiler, will give his unique analysis of the feature meeting from a Placepot perspective.
His general preview for the following day's racing will appear at around 5pm the day before with the actual selections available around two hours before the first race on the day of racing so factors such as non-runners and going conditions can properly be taken into account.

Average toteplacepot dividend at Brighton in 2006: £704.37 (19 meetings)in 2007: £445.28 (18 meetings)--in 2008: £1,031.02 (21 meetings)
2.30 FLY SILCA FLY is preferred of the two Mick Channon raiders (see stats below) whereby the Hawk Wing filly could get off the mark here, even though a distance of ground will surely be targeted very soon. Mick won the inaugural running of this event for good measure last year. The Verglas filly VELVET BAND represents Paul Cole whose form has peaked and troughed throughout the season.
Trainers of 2YO winners at Brighton this season: 2--M. Channon(10/11*--4/9*) 1 Tom Dascombe (4/9*) 1--S. Dow (11/10*) 1--J.S. Moore (5/2)
'Favourite factor': Last years 5/4 favourite finished third in a win only event in the inaugural running of the contest.
'Draw factor' (six furlongs):
With just five runners declared, there should be no bias in evidence.
3.00 All three winners have carried weights of 8-12 or more thus far (as have all eight horses to have secured toteplacepot positions) which eliminates one third of the six strong line up if you take the stats seriously. HYPNOTIC and MY LEARNED FRIEND jump off the page in the context of the opposition, nominating ZEBRANO as the overnight reserve.
'Favourite factor': Just one of the three favourites (last yeas winner) has finished in the frame to date.
'Draw factor' (seven furlongs):
2-3 (7 ran-firm)
12-5-8 (12 ran-good to firm)
9-10-4 (10 ran-firm)
3.30 Its difficult (nigh impossible) to disguise the fact that this is a poor event whereby even Mick Channons newcomer could win at the first time of asking, namely the Imperial Dancer gelding WHITEROCKS. CABERNET SAUVIGNON and SUNCELEB set the standard via the four runners with racecourse experience, though that standard is moderate to say the least.
'Favourite factor': Five of the seven market leaders have won thus far, whilst the biggest priced winner was returned at 11/2. The other two favourites failed to make the frame in their respective contests.
'Draw factor' (eight furlongs):
Just five runners are scheduled to face the starter on this occasion.
4.00 With seven of the eight winners having carried weights of 9-5 or less to victory, Sussex Dancer appears to have plenty to do which leaves ATACAMA SUNRISE and JUMAANA towards the top of the pecking order at the time of writing, offering up ROSE OF COMA as the alternative selection.
'Favourite factor': Six of the ten market leaders secured toteplacepot positions (five winners).
'Draw factor' (ten furlongs):
8-4-7 (8 ran-good to firm)
12-13-7 (11 ran-good to firm)
6-3 (7 ran-firm)
8-1-6 (8 ran-firm)
1-10-8 (9 ran-good)
4-8-7 (8 ran-good to firm)
11-2-7 (12 ran-soft)
2-6-8 (9 ran-firm)
10-6-7 (10 ran-good)
4.30 Ten of the twelve horses to have claimed toteplacepot positions to date have carried weights of 9-0 or more, and the two course and distance winners make as much appeal as any other horses in the line, namely LADY FLORENCE and MY FANTOZZI, even though the form book suggests the two horses might not top the bookmakers lists. DARING DREAM completes my trio against the field.
'Favourite factor': The four winners have scored at 50/1-10/1-6/1--9/4 thus far, whilst connections of all four favourites had to settle for silver medals.
'Draw factor' (eight furlongs):
2-8-9 (9 ran-good to firm)
11-13-9 (15 ran-good to firm)
14-4-7 (15 ran-firm)
2-9-4 (14 ran-firm)
5.00 Two of the three winners have carried 9-7 to victory and the horse similarly burdened this time around is Dave Simcocks filly HALAAK and Chris Catlins mount is expected to improve the ratio. ITSHER has a decent chance of doubling up despite the six pound penalty incurred for last weeks win over a slightly longer trip here at Brighton. This pair should dominate proceedings inside the final furlong.
'Favourite factor': Three of the six available toteplacepot positions were claimed by horses starting at odds of 7/2 or less, including two of the three winners. One of the three market leaders has finished in the frame to date..
'Draw factor' (five furlongs):
2-8 (7 ran-good to firm)
7-4 (6 ran-good to firm)
4-8-1 (8 ran-firm)
