1pt each way Vijay Singh at 10/1 (Bet365 1/4 1,2,3,4,5) |
World class player who knows how to win a major. |
Nick Price and Vijay Singh look good bets in the Top Rest of World market for this week's 131st Open Championship at Muirfield.
Price's win in the MasterCard Colonial back in May proved that there is still plenty of golf left in the Zimbabwe veteran and his recent form makes him a solid selection.
In the first two majors of the year Price finished 14th in the US Masters and last month posted a hugely impressive eighth at the US Open.
In the Players Championship at Sawgrass Price came home tied ninth and on the US Tour this season Price has posted eight top 20 finishes.
He is obviously delighted with the way he is playing and the former world number one looks set to go well again this week.
Let us not forget that Price lifted the claret jug at Turnberry in 1994 and finished tied 21st in last year's Open at Royal Lytham.
And although it was 15 years ago, Price managed to finish tied eighth in the 1987 Muirfield Open.
Muirfield's relative shortness will certainly help the likes of Price a lot more than Bethpage did in the US Open, and if Price can finish eighth on a course such as that, you have to think he will go well this week.
Over recent years Singh has become a player who is always lurking at the top end of the leaderboard in the majors, with the likeable Fijian one of the most dedicated players in world golf.
He is the only man to have won two majors in the Tiger era of domination and after playing on the European Tour for seven years, he knows how to play links golf.
Singh's recent record in the British Open is decent, with three top 20 finishes in the last four years.
And in his last start in America he was tied 15th in the Advil Western Open.
Singh hasn't been seen out since then, although there is no doubt that he would have been putting in the hours on the practice range.
As is standard Singh has had another solid season on the US Tour and along with a win at the Shell Houston Open he has had eight other top 15 finishes.
Singh might find a couple too good for him this week but at 10/1 he looks a decent bet in this market.
