Manchester United v Liverpool (1330)
Liverpool have rumbled their way into a spot of form as they prepare to travel along the East Lancs Road on Sunday. They followed up a thumping 4-1 victory over Portsmouth on Monday night with a win against Lille that secured their Europa League progress 72 hours later. But they'll need no reminding it's less than a fortnight since back-to-back defeats on their travels against the French side and Wigan. And when you add in the fact that they've yet to win a domestic away game this year it's hard to get too excited about their prospects here even at a juicy 5/1. Yes they've won the last three between the teams but they've only won one more Premier League game on the road than Wolves this season. United for their part have been awesome at home with 13 wins from 15 top-flight games and only the one defeat, against Aston Villa. Indeed since the opening day of December they've conceded just three goals on home turf in all competitions. So it'll come as no surprise they're odds-on. The route to profits here looks to be in the 'sending off' market. Nemanja Vidic has seen red in each of the last three games between the sides and with Javier Mascherano and Paul Scholes also sent off recently, the tally is six reds in six games. Howard Webb is the man in the middle this weekend and though he's hardly been flinging the red cards around of late he heads to Old Trafford on the back of a - shall we say - iffy handling of Spurs v Blackburn last weekend. That could easily mean he'll be looking to impose his authority and at 5/2 we like our chances.
Verdict: Manchester United 2 Liverpool 1 (RK)
Fulham v Manchester City (1500)
You have to wonder if Fulham have anything left in the tank - for the time being at least - following their remarkable comeback against Juventus in the Europa League on Thursday night - and we're expecting Manchester City to take full advantage at Craven Cottage. Roy Hodgson's men recovered from losing the first leg 3-1 in Turin and conceding an early goal in the second leg to secure a memorable 5-4 aggregate win against the Italian giants - but is three days enough time to recuperate and re-energise for a clash against Roberto Mancini's Champions League chasers? We think not. However we do appreciate the Cottagers welcome back captain Danny Murphy and midfielder Jonathan Greening after the duo were both suspended on Thursday night and the former could replace Dickson Etuhu, who picked up a knock. Fulham are also in that comfortable position of mid-table on 38 points so this can hardly be viewed as a must-win affair from their perspective. City, by contrast, are locked in an incredibly tight battle in their bid to finish in the top four and having taken six points from the last four games they are certainly in need of a valuable win in what will be their fourth straight away game in all competitions. Of course three of those points came in a brilliant 4-2 triumph against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge while last time out a Adam Johnson stunner in stoppage time salvaged a point so they should be in good spirits. The visitors are a best of 11/8 with VC Bet for victory and that's the bet for us in this one.
Verdict: Fulham 0 Manchester City 2 (CH)
Blackburn v Chelsea (1600)
To say morale is low in the Chelsea camp is quite an understatement after Jose Mourinho came back to haunt his old club in the Champions League on Tuesday night but they simply have no time to lick their wounds ahead of their clash at Ewood Park. The Blues looked stale and short of ideas as Inter Milan produced a perfectly executed gameplan to run out 1-0 winners on the night for a 3-1 aggregate triumph while their big players such as Nicolas Anelka, Frank Lampard, Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba simply failed to show up on the big occasion. It's been no surprise to see Carlo Ancelotti subsequently linked with making a range of high-profile summer transfer moves as the need to freshen up his squad appears essential if they're to challenge for future European honours. But their immediate and most important objective now is the Premier League title. Chelsea have a rather inconsistent away record in the league having lost four times on the road - at Everton, Man City, Aston Villa and Wigan - while draws with Hull, Birmingham and West Ham have also prevented them surging clear at the top. Sure, they thrashed Blackburn 5-0 earlier in the season at Stamford Bridge but Rovers are a completely different proposition on their own soil, losing just two Premier League games there all season. A run of four successive home victories has helped propel Blackburn well clear of the drop zone and they'll be eager to get back to winning ways following back-to-back defeats at Liverpool and Tottenham - games in which they pushed both Champions League chasing outfits hard. Sam Allardyce has always loved trying to ruffle the feathers of the big guns and we reckon he'll have his side smelling Chelsea's blood on Sunday so the 11/2 with Blue Square about Blackburn in the draw no bet market has plenty of appeal.
Verdict: Blackburn 2 Chelsea 1 (CH)
