Alan Curbishley is Sky Bet's early favourite to be the next Watford manager.
The vacancy arose after Aidy Boothroyd parted company with the club 'by mutual consent' on Monday evening.
The Hornets slumped to 21st place in the Coca-Cola Championship on Saturday after a dismal 4-3 defeat at home to Blackpool which proved to be the final straw for Boothroyd.
And Curbishley, who made his managerial name at nearby Charlton, is Sky Bet's 3/1 market leader to replace him.
It's then 4/1 Ian Holloway and Kenny Jackett, 8/1 John Ward, Sam Allardyce and Iain Dowie.
The money proved spot on when Boothroyd became the latest Championship manager to lose his job.
A gamble on Monday saw Sky Bet slash their odds from 14/1 into 6/4 on Boothroyd being the next Championship boss to go.
Sky Bet's head of PR Helen Jacob had said: "We've taken a flurry of bets on Boothroyd to be the next casualty of the Championship sack race, which suggests there is something afoot.
"With the club suffering financial problems and the Hornets failing to win their last four games, the money for Boothroyd suggests that his departure from the club could be imminent."
And it didn't take long for her to be proved right, with Watford confirming shortly after 6pm that they had parted company with Boothroyd.
