DOUBLE: Phoenix Tower and Mad Rush
Phoenix Tower can make the most of an unremarkable line-up for Sandown's Coral-Eclipse Stakes by providing Henry Cecil with his first Group One winner of the year.
The popular Newmarket trainer has been edged out at the highest level on a number of occasions, not least with Phoenix Tower who was second in both the Lockinge and the Prince Of Wales's Stakes.
There is no Duke Of Marmalade - the four-length winner at Royal Ascot - to worry about here and the Chester House colt should relish the uphill finish at the Esher track.
Phoenix Tower seemed to be doing his best work at the end of the Prince Of Wales's to prove 10 furlongs was not beyond him and he looks the outstanding contender for this prestigious old race.
Cecil should also be on the mark with Ajaan in the Weatherbys VAT Services Stakes, who travelled beautifully in Ascot's Queen Alexandra Stakes before not quite lasting home over two-miles-five-furlongs.
It is possible he may be able to make an impression in Cup races in time so will feel much more at home over this two-mile trip.
Jack Junior can finally lift a decent prize in the feature handicap, the Toteswinger Stakes.
Until breaking his duck at Haydock on his recent reappearance, Brian Meehan's colt must have been one of the best maidens around as he ran in both the UAE Derby and the St James's Palace Stakes - finishing a respectable second to Asiatic Boy in the former.
However, he was a let-down on other occasions but may well be a more mature proposition with a win in the bag.
It is Bet365 Old Newton Cup day at Haydock and Luca Cumani can again take one of his favourite events in the calendar with Mad Rush.
Fancied as one of the Italian trainer's handicap good things at Royal Ascot, Mad Rush could never quite get past Sugar Ray in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes and conceded defeat by a quarter of a length.
Cumani's Futun was only just beaten in the race 12 months ago and he won it the previous two times he fielded runners so it is surely noteworthy the brilliant Cumani still perseveres with Mad Rush on an even higher rating as he could have more to give.
The Bet365 Lancashire Oaks can fall to Jim Bolger, a man who has had such a say in many of the season's best races.
This time his star will be Ezima, a versatile filly who has been able to win from a mile to a mile and three-quarters and holds an entry in the Irish St Leger.
She has been mixing with and beating the colts and will find this return to her own sex refreshing.
There is plenty of other action around the country and Flam makes some appeal in the totesport.com E.b.f. Fillies' Handicap at Leicester.
This will be her first start outside maiden company, having completed the requisite three runs to get a handicap mark.
While her juvenile form looks quite reasonable, she drops back in trip from her seasonal reappearance over a mile and a half and is just the sort trainer James Fanshawe excels with.
Mister Pete can feel the benefit of a recent outing in Carlisle's CFM Radio Maiden Handicap.
Returning from an eight-month break, Mister Pete finished a well beaten second at Ripon but should be much fitter for this task.
At Beverley John Dillon can get involved in the Powerpart Handicap while at Nottingham Tagula Blue looks well handicapped on his old form in the Matthews & Tannert Handicap.
